Life in Gravedona

Gravedona is one of the old capitals of the upper lake: a real lakeside town with its own beach, a long promenade for the evening stroll, cafés on the water, and an ancient centre of stone lanes and Romanesque churches.

Unlike the villages of the mid-lake, up here you live like a local. Mornings begin at the bakery, afternoons at the lido or out on the water, and dinner is taken slowly, outside, while the ferries cross far below the mountains.

On the water

A day at the beach or Gravedona's lido, a spin by kayak or paddleboard, and the pleasure of discovering the lake from a different perspective. In the afternoon the breva arrives, the breeze that caresses the Alto Lario and makes it a special place for sailing, windsurfing and kitesurfing.

Into the mountains

Trails leave straight from the villages above town: through chestnut woods, past stone hamlets like Naro, up to alpine pastures with the whole lake at your feet.

Day trips made easy

Menaggio, Bellagio and Varenna are an easy outing by car or ferry; Como and its funicular to Brunate reward a full day; and the Swiss border is just up the road.

By boat

Perhaps the most beautiful way to get to know the lake is to let the water carry you. Boat tours, private excursions and small itineraries to discover the villages, the villas and the most hidden corners of the Alto Lario, with the landscape drifting slowly all around.
